Hopefully, We dodged a bullet!!
For everything that went our way in 2017, 2018 has been the opposite. Turns out the hot spots I thought he had last year turned out to be allergies which came in much worse this spring. He was practically eating his tail off and his crotch area was so broke out he could sometimes barely walk. There goes his stud dog life as he can pass allergies on to his pups so I will not let him breed. (Wish his breeder was as conscientious as me) We were just getting this under control and his training was going good when he became very sick. My vet thought he ate something (again) and gave me some meds. Three days later I rushed him to an emergency vet in Mishawaka and found out he contracted Leptospirosis. He has shots to protect him from this but as the vet said there are so many different strains that he got one the shot didn't cover. When I left him for the night I was not sure I would see my boy alive ever again.....he was so sick. In the vets office alone he had diarrhea, vomited twice and lost all control of his legs. They said no news would be good news so when I didn't receive a call I hauled ass to go get him as they are only open weekends. The good news was he was much better. The bad news is they left the catheter in him and told me to get him to my vet pronto. Two days later here he is at home. Twelve pounds lighter and very weak but sooo much better than a couple of days ago. While not out of the woods just yet he seems to do better with each passing hour. I just want my duck hunting partner back. He had Ang and I worried sick. Stay strong Chiloe.
